Selection criteria for World Climbing competitions 2025/26
Version March 2025
General remarks
The participation of athletes in national and international competitions is an important goal of Liechtenstein Climbing. However, participation in international competitions only makes sense if the athlete is competitive. To this end, Liechtenstein Climbing issues selection criteria that require a minimum performance level for participation in international competitions and championships. No selection criteria apply to national competitions such as Swiss Cups.
Competition selection in general
Based on:
1. Association quotas (World Climbing regulations)
2. Selection criteria of Liechtenstein Climbing (see below)
The order of the above criteria determines the preference in the selection for international competitions.
General selection criteria
- The criteria and their achievement are valid for 1 year (results criterion), with results from one age category counting towards the next age category.
- The criteria are discipline-specific (lead, bouldering, speed).
- The following criteria and results mean automatic selection.
Specific selection criteria
- Qualification for the Swiss Championships* in the respective discipline, and/or
- Top 10 placement in a Swiss Climbing Cup or Swiss Youth Climbing Cup competition in the respective discipline.
* If there is no qualification mode for the Swiss Championships (e.g., U19 and Elite categories), a top 75% result in the Swiss Championships competition is required.
